hifu - high intensity focused ultrasound
HIFU (often referred to as a non-surgical facelift) uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface. The ultrasound energy causes the tissue to heat up rapidly. Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they are stimulated to produce more collagen — a protein that provides structure to the skin. The increase in collagen results in tighter, firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. Approx 35-45 minute
With HIFU, there is no preparation required before the procedure. The HIFU device is simply placed against your skin. Once the ultrasound energy has been applied, the device is removed.
There is no recovery time with HIFU. A client can go right back to normal activity once the procedure has been completed. Results can take between 3 - 4 months and can continue to improve for up to 6 months.
We recommend between 1 - 3 treatments (spaced 3 months apart) for optimal outcome.
HIFU complications are rare and minor, such as temporary swelling and redness.
What this treatment targets:
HIFU smooths the skin and lifts eyelids, cheeks, and eyebrows. Some clients notice an increase in jawline definition. It is a great treatment for sagging skin or double chin, as well as fine lines and wrinkles and can be performed on the face, neck, and body.
When you may not be suitable:
HIFU may not be appropriate for everyone. In general, the procedure works best on people older than 30 with mild-to-moderate skin laxity. People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
HIFU isn’t recommended for people with infections and open skin lesions at the target area, severe or cystic acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.
